Response to the Recent Anti-Armenian Hate Speech

LA vs Hate stands with the Armenian community and we condemn the recent hate incidents in which anti-Armenian flyers were posted around schools and churches in the Beverly Hills and Glendale communities. We believe residents from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds should feel welcomed, respected, and safe in LA County. Instances such as these remind us of the importance of working together to create peaceful and inclusive communities. In response to this hateful act, we encourage community members to attend the upcoming Stand TAAL Against Hate Town Hall on Thursday, May 4th from 6 - 8 PM at the Glendale Public Library at 222 East Harvard Street, Glendale, 91205. This event will be hosted by the Truth And Accountability League (TAAL) in partnership with the LA County Commission on Human Relations’ LA vs Hate program.

The event will be moderated by Vic Gerami, TAAL’s founder & Chair, and will feature an open panel discussion with government officials, experts, and community leaders, including Sepi Shyne, West Hollywood Mayor; Robin S. Toma, Esq., Executive Director, LA County Commission on Human Relations; Daniel Brotman, Glendale Mayor; Manuel Cid, Glendale Police Chief; Joseph F. Iniguez, Chief of Staff from the LA County District Attorney’s Office; and Sam Kbushyan, State Commissioner. Through discussions between the panel and attendees, this event will also serve as an opportunity to educate residents, advocate for the Armenian community, and speak about solutions to address anti-Armenian hate. Gatherings such as this one and the ongoing work done by LA vs Hate and partner organizations are a reminder that hate is not welcome in our neighborhoods and we will not stand idle when these incidents take place.

An RSVP will be required for this event. Please visit the link below to save your spot and learn more, TAALTownHall.Eventbrite.com.
